How Wild Cargo Took Flight

One year in, a look back at the journey — and where we’re headed next.
A couple years back, we were both working jobs that didn’t exactly scratch the creative itch. Nate was managing properties. I was deep in the restaurant world. But between long shifts and busy summers, we always found time to link up — usually for a trip somewhere off-grid, a good whiskey, or a gear dump on whatever new pack or pair of boots we’d found.
The more we talked, the more we realized something was missing in Jackson Hole: a place for guys like us to shop.
Sure, there were technical gear shops with fluorescent lighting and floor-to-ceiling carabiners. Or you could go full Western — cowboy boots and leather vests. But where was the stuff in between?
We dreamed of something else. A place where we would shop. Like Huckberry, but grounded in the Mountain West. A store for regular guys who give a damn about quality. Not hype. Not fast fashion. Just products that hold up, tell a story, and feel like they belong in a place like Jackson.

The name — Wild Cargo — came from a WWII B-25 bomber. One of those weathered warbirds that carried men and gear into the unknown. That name hit us: it captured everything we were going for. Adventure. Grit. Heritage. Movement. A little wild, a little utilitarian. Just right.

On July 1, 2024, we opened the doors.

We started with brands we already loved: Taylor Stitch. Tellason. Mystery Ranch. Schott NYC. Brands with soul and staying power. Since then, we’ve kept growing — not just in our product selection, but in our vision. Because Wild Cargo isn’t just about stuff you can buy. It’s about stories, people, and places that inspire us.
We’re now one year in. And just getting started.
To everyone who’s walked through the door, bought online, told a friend, or supported us from afar — thank you. You’re why this works.
We’ll keep bringing you the best gear we can find. And we’ll keep telling the stories that remind you why it matters.
